Pre-Treatment and Comfort
The treatment is generally well-tolerated by many patients. At most, you will feel some brief pinches when the needle breaks through the skin. We can use ice to numb the area and reduce discomfort, but topical numbing is also an option.
If you decide that topical numbing is necessary, then you will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled treatment time. This is for the local anesthetic to take effect.
It’s best to avoid blood-thinning medicine such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as alcohol, for at least 24 to 48 hours pre-treatment. Not only can these compromise the healing, but they also have the potential to make your bruising worse.

Injection

Recovery
Clients can expect mild swelling, sensitivity, and redness at the injection site, which will dissipate within a few hours after the procedure. Some bruising can also occur, but it’s rarely visible, and you can cover it with makeup after about two days. It’s best to avoid hot baths, showers, and saunas, as this can increase inflammation. Avoid rubbing the treated areas too, as the BOTOX® Cosmetic can migrate. Other than that, you can return to work right away.

Results
Results become visible once the BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes the muscle enough to prevent contraction. The skin becomes smoother, and you should start seeing visible improvement after three to five days. Full results appear after one to two weeks and last an average of three to four months. Maintenance treatments prevent the reappearance of wrinkles, but you should make sure you don’t space them less than three weeks apart, or else you’ll build a tolerance to the substance.

No, BOTOX® Cosmetic doesn’t prevent facial movement; instead, it prevents excessive contractions. While you should keep the movements minimal for a day or two, it shouldn’t stop you from smiling or showing other facial expressions. If anything, it should help you look friendlier, as it will soften your “natural” frowns.
This depends on the size of the area you want to treat. For instance, forehead lines typically require around 10 to 20 units to address the issue, depending on their severity. On the other hand, if you’re looking to get a lip flip, you may require only four to six units.
While it may be tempting to cover the redness and bruising with makeup, it’s best that you refrain from it for the next 24 to 48 hours. The injection sites need time to heal, and the pressure caused by makeup application can cause BOTOX® Cosmetic to migrate.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is naturally broken down by the body and flushed out through the lymphatic system after about three to four months.
